Our second annual HiPP-o-thon fundraiser benefits the Warrior Canine Connection. The Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) is a pioneering organization that utilizes a Mission Based Trauma Recovery (MBTR) model to help recovering Warriors reconnect with life, their families, their communities, and each other. Supporting the WCC gives the High Point Swim Team an opportunity to work together, help recovering warriors, and teach our swimmers about giving back. The WCC will be present at the event, along with some of their service dogs! Please promote this event to friends, family, neighbors, teachers, anyone! We need all the support we can get. Watch the video at the bottom of this page to learn more about WCC and view their puppy cam!
WHEN: July 19, 7:30 - 10:30 a.m.
(in lieu of practice)
FUNDRAISING GOAL: $8,000
The Swim-a-thon will start at 7:30 a.m. and conclude by 10:30 a.m. All swimmers are encouraged to swim a mile, which is equal to 66 laps. Swimmers may take breaks or swim continuously to meet their goal. All team members, including JR. Hippos, as well as our team parents can participate. Laps may be completed by swimming any stroke, kicking with a kick board, or any other method that allows the swimmer to complete as many laps as possible. Swimmers must keep track of the number of laps they swim.
Each participating swimmer will receive a certificate, candy, and have a great time!
Swimmers should obtain sponsors who can either make a flat donation or a pledge per lap. For example, a sponsor may donate $100 to the WCC or $5 for every lap the swimmer completes. All lap pledges should be made prior to the start of the swim-a-thon. The pledge sheet is attached at the bottom of this page. Donations can be made until July 28.
Our goal this year is to raise over $8,000, and swim over 125 miles as a team.
- Swimmers that raise over $150.00 will have their name put in for prizes
- Swimmers that raise over $300.00 will be entered to win special prizes
- The swimmer who raises the most money will receive a special prize
Winners will be announced at the July 20 Pep Rally.
To make this happen, we need many volunteers! Please sign up now using this online form. Even if you can't be on deck to lend a hand, you can contribute food, drinks, and prizes!
