High Point Pool HiPPos Swim Team

We are excited that Andrew Koons will again be the HPP Swim Team head coach for the 2026 summer season, marking his 6th season with the Hippos. Andrew is a former NVSL swimmer and was a Fairfax County high school science teacher until June 2023 when he traded his lab goggles for swim goggles to become a full-time swim coach. Andrew coached for York Swim Club for 6 years, the last of which was full time, and is now in his second year as a group lead coach at NCAP Tysons. 

This is his 13th season as an NVSL head-coach, with experience at Overlee, Canterbury Woods, and Hayfield Farm. In addition, Andrew is the Head Swim & Dive Coach at Madison High School, and chooses to spend even more time at the pool as a Masters swimmer. He brings his love of swimming and enthusiasm to our team to help every swimmer achieve his or her personal best. Outside of the pool, Andrew stays active at his CrossFit gym and enjoys traveling to concerts and music festivals.

Hey Hippos! My name is Coach Griffin, and I could not be more excited about my second season at High Point this year! I am currently a sophomore at West Virginia University pursuing a degree in Sport Management and am on this club swim team there. Before High Point, I swam and coached in the NVSL at Rutherford. In my free time, I love to golf, cook new recipes, and work out. Super excited to see everyone at the pool this summer! Go Hippos!

Hi Hippos! My name is Coach Aleena, and I am so excited to be a part of the Hippo family this season! I am currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech studying neuroscience. I was on the VT varsity swim team for a year and am now on the triathlon team. Before High Point, I swam and coached at Fairfax Station. When I'm not swimming I enjoy reading, baking, and hanging out with my dogs. I can't wait to get started and meet everyone! 

Hello HiPPo Families! I’m Coach Ally. I am a 2nd grade teacher in Prince William County and have 10+ years of coaching experience with my neighborhood swim team! My favorite stroke is breaststroke.
